31 Day Challenge - Day 6: Your Favorite Color Family

Happy Sunday!  My post for you today is the 6th post in the 31 day challenge being hosted by Debbie Crumpet of The Crumpet.  Today we are supposed to show our favorite color family.  Mine just so happens to be pink.  Like I said a few days ago when our challenge was pink, pink is my favorite color, but I try not to show it too much here because I would do every post with pink in it.  Lol.  Whelp, I don't really have much else to say.  This mani was pretty simple, but I really like it and I hope you do too.

Base coat:  Pro Fx Fiberized Ridge Filler
Pinky: Princesses Rule! from OPI - 3 coats
Ring: Lolly from Zoya - 2 coats
Middle: Charming Rose Creme from NYC - 2 coats and one coat of Sparked from Wet N' Wild
Pointer: Koala Bear-y from OPI - 2 coats with one coat of Essence Nail Art Special Effect! Topper
Thumb: White on the Spot from Milani - 2 coats with two coats of a no name pink neon from Claire's
Top coat: Seche Vite except for the pointer finger

I'm not sure what is on my pointer finger; I think maybe some snow fell on it as I was taking the pictures.

What is your favorite polish color?

Happy Saturday everyone all though I\'m sure it is Sunday for a lot of you right now.  I was really excited to wear Aurora from Zoya for this mani.  It is a part of the new Ornate Collection that was released last month.  I fell in love with Aurora when I saw the first swatches of it.  I received it in a secret santa swap that I did in one of my Facebook groups and I was pretty much jumping up and down when I got it.
To achieve this look I painted two coats of  each polish onto each nail then a coat of Seche Vite to help it dry quick.  After it dried I applied striping tape to each nail and then painted each nail with one coat of the opposite color.

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Accent color base: Aurora from Zoya - 2 coats
Main base: I\'ve Got Bieber Fever from Nicole by OPI - 2 coats
Top coat: Seche Vite

Llama Nails Presents the ABC's of Nail Art: J is for... Jelly Sandwich

Happy Wednesday everyone!  How has your week been?  I am feeling so much better after my bout of strep.  This week's letter for the ABC challenge in the Facebook group, Llama Nails, is J.  I decided that I would do a jelly sandwich mani today.  If you aren't sure as to what a jelly sandwich mani is, don't fret.  It is pretty much what it sounds like.  Glitter sandwiched between a jelly finish polish.  A jelly finish polish is a very sheer polish that looks like jelly, for lack of a better term.  This is not to be confused with a sheer finished polish.  If my lame description confuses you and you want a far better one you can check out this blog.
I have done three or four of these manicures and this is the first one that I have really liked.  The hardest part of this mani was photographing it.  I took almost 200 pictures and think I got some good ones.  I am hoping to be able to purchase a new camera with my Christmas bonus, but I do have to pay my bills first.  Here's hoping they feel sorry for me this year and give me a little extra! :-)

Base coat: Sally Hansen Triple Strong Advanced Gel Nail Fortifier
Base color: Daddy's Girl from Sinful Colors
Glitter: Let Me See Your Peacock from Claire's
Top coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat
I did two coats of Daddy's Girl, a layer of the glitter, and one more layer of Daddy's Girl on top of that.

Have you tried a jelly sandwich mani?  Do you like doing them?  What kind of camera do you think I should get?

Sinful Colors Bubble Bath Swatches and Splatter Mani

Bubble Bath was one of the first Sinful Colors that I purchased.  I was sitting at home a few years ago and saw a tutorial on how to do a lady bug mani.  I raced to Fred Meyer to buy white, red, and black polish and Sinful Colors was the cheapest they had.  I was never able to make the cute lady bugs the tutorial had and ended up giving up polish for a few years.  Eventually I threw away the black I had bought because I am not one to wear black polish.  Or so I thought.  I still don't wear it by its self but it is a necessity for any nail polish junkie.  I haven't seen Bubble Bath around currently but Ruby Ruby, the red I purchased a few years ago, was released again just a few months ago so maybe Bubble Bath will come out again.  I hope so because it is a lovely pearly glossy white.  I am able to get opacity at two coats.  They couldn't have picked a better name because I own a white bubble bath/shower gel that is the EXACT same color as the polish.  I included a picture below.  I was pretty excited about this, all thought I'm  sure you won't find the same joy in it that I did.  I know I am a big dork, but whatever gets us through the day, right?
I have wanted to do a splatter mani for a while and the other day I finally remembered to borrow some straws from work.  I followed Chalkboard Nails tutorial, almost perfectly.  I couldn't find my tape and my lazy butt decided it wouldn't be a big deal.  HA HA HA!  Was I WRONG!  Take my advise, follow every step.  And if you don't have tape, go freaking buy some.  It would probablly take less time to run to the store, buy the tape, and tape up your nails, then it would to clean up the horrendeous mess that a splatter mani makes.  I will NEVER do a splatter mani without tape again.  It also took forever to clean up because I decided it would be a good idea to use colors with glitter in them.  Ummmm yeah, clean up was terrible!

Base coat: Chip Skip from OPI and Smooth Beginnings from Avon
Base color: Bubble Bath from Sinful Colors - 2 coats
Splatter colors: Neon Signs mini collection from Claires
Top Coat: Out the Door

What about you guys.  Have you done a splatter mani?  Was it sucessful?  I wish I would have gotten better pictures of this one.  For some reason I thought I had good ones, but I really didn't!  Oh well.  Better luck next time.

Claire's Neon Blue Swatching and Review Plus Stamping With Mash 37 Plate

In Central Oregon, also known as Deshutes County, the Sisters Rodeo is a yearly event.  This even is HUGE.  In the town of Sisters they even have a rodeo arena that was built just for this event!  It drives tons of people to their small town from all over Oregon on the West Coast.  This weekend is rodeo weekend.  It will start tonight and go through Sunday.  I am actually on call to go work, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to because I am really tired.
:-)  That is how I decided I wanted to do a western theme on my nails today.  I will also be doing one tomorrow as well.
The base color is a neon blue from Claire's that I got in their mini neon signs collection.  The formula was not that great.  I applied three coats because two coats was not cutting it.  I have included two pictures showing how streaky and funky this formula was.  I also wish that the glitter would actually sparkle.  It pretty much just looks like a textureized finish rather than a glitter.  Unfortunatly is a beautiful color and it dried really really fast!  It appeared to have a matte finish so I tried applying top coat to the pointer and ring finger to see if it would shine it up but it didn't do much.  I also wish that Claire's would put the name of the polishes on the bottle!  Super frustrating.  I am really glad that I only have a mini bottle of this.  If it weren't such a pretty blue I wouldn't even waste my time with it and throw it away.
I really wanted to give the impression that the horse shoe was flying through the air so I really hope that is how this mani comes across.

Base coat: Chip Skip from OPI and Yello-out
Bae color: Neon Blue from Claire's - 3 coats
Stamping color: clouds - Alpine Snow from OPI
Horse shoe - Nirvana from Sinful Colors
Stamping plate: Mash 37
Top Coat: Sally Hanson Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

This was taken outside with out flash.  I am pretty pleased with
the end result.

You can see a vague difference in the nails that I applied the
top coat to and the ones I did not. This was taken out side in
indirect light.

Taken inside with out the flash

Taken inside with flash.  Excuse my tiny hangnail on my pointer
finger.  The flash always makes these look the worst.

I am including this pictures so you can see how gritty the glitter
looks.

If you look inside the circle you can see how
translucent it is.  This is why I had to do the three
coats as apposed to the two.  This is how each nail
looked.  :-(

Have you guys tried any of the neon polishes from Claire's?  What did you think of the formula?  Also, what drives people to your area?

Lemme See Your Peacock Fly

If you follow me on Facebook you may have seen this picture I posted this weekend of my jean shopping trip.  I know, I know, buying jeans turned into buying jeans, shorts, and nail stuff.  Outlet malls are the DEVIL. Not to mention hubbs was supposed to go with me but got a "migraine" all of the sudden.  Don't men always get them when they are supposed to go shopping.  Funny thing is, is that I am probablly the fasted clothes tryer oner you will ever meet.  I HATE shopping for clothes, especially jeans, so I grab my size, try it on, do a few squats, and bam, I'm out the door.
When the Nicki Minaj collection was released this January (2012) I wanted nothing to do with it.  I was not a fan of her.  And then I saw her on Ellen with Sophia Grace and Rosie and saw what she did for those two little girls and all the sudden I liked her.  :-)  If you haven't seen Sophia Grace and Rosie you NEED to watch the clip I just linked to.  It is about five minutes long but it will just melt your heart.  Any ways, after I saw this I started looking in to everyones swatches for the line and decided that I needed to add Fly to my collection.  I was finally able to do that this weekend.
While on my jean shopping adventure I walked past a Claires.  I have never bought any polish from Claires before but have seen a lot of bloggers talk about their nail products before and decided to get it a look.  I found the two mini collections featured under the "picture" link above and left!  I knew hubbs would not be to excited about my venture.  I have a little rant about the Claires mini polishes.  They have NO NAMES on them!  Which I was fine with at first until I saw my almost exact mani on Rebecca Likes Nails blog today and she had a name for this polish.  I find it very ironic that we have almost the same mani post for the same day. lol  Great minds think alike.
If you're anything like me when I was young and knew everything, you learned that Icing and Claires were the same stores but with a different name on their product.  In Rebecca's blog post she states that the glitter polish she purchased at Icing is called Lemme See Your Peacock.  I went to the Claires website to see if the names were the same and low and behold, they didn't have this product in the full size bottle on the website, and they didn't have this product on the Icing website AT ALL!  Hence, where my frustration came from.  But I will say, I got this coverage from the glitter in one coat!  I did blop the brush down at the base of the nail a few times and then just pulled the glitter in a normal painting manner.
Ok, enough typing for todays post.  Here is my final product that I really really love!!

Base Color: Fly by OPI - 2 coats

What do you guys think about this?  Does it bug you when there aren't names on products you purchase?
