31 Day Challenge - Day 17: A New Technique

Wow, what a crazy week.  Work has been insane.  I am pretty sure I have worked a minimum of 130 hours in the last two weeks.  This is why I haven't been posting.  I was so distraught about this mani.  I really wanted to try the water spotted mani or a fan brush mani.  I was unable to do either of these due to the fact that I didn't own a fan brush and I didn't want to spend so much time doing the spotted mani.  I have seen a few videos on how to do some sugar spun manicures and wasn't really too keen on doing it, but I was sitting here watching tv and I figured what could it hurt to try it out.  I used a quick drying white and was really pleased with how easy it was to do this.  I finally got the hang of this once I hit the pointer finger.  You will be able to tell in the pictures.  The blobs of polish are where I touched the dotting tool to the nail accidentally.

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Base color: Winter Wonder from Sinful Colors - 2 coats
White: White on the Spot from Milani
Top coat: Seche Vite

I am including these next two pictures so that you can see more of the shimmer in this beautiful polish.  I will need to wear Winter Wonder when I have more sun.

31 Day Challenge - Day 16: Color Opposites

This was so hard for me to do because I do not like clashing colors!  I decided to go with red and purple.  I wish that the stamping had turned out better, but it didn't.  I really wanted to redo this one, but I left it alone.  Blah.  Can you tell how un-enthusiastic I am about this one?

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Base color: Red Red from Wet N' Wild - 1 coat
Stamping color: Lavenbaby
Stamping image: Mash 41
Top coat: Seche Vite

What colors do you hate seeing together?

31 Day Challenge - Day 15: Watercolor

I guess it is just my lot in life to be behind on this challenge!  I am keeping up with the work, but can't seem to be able to find the time to post.  Work has been crazy busy.  I have basically worked 10 - 11 hours, six days a week, for the last two weeks.  We are so stinking busy and that is part of the reason my cuticles look like dog shit.  Normally I can apply my cuticle balm a few times throughout the day, but lately, I'm lucky if I get enough time to pee.  Any who.  I am so happy with how these turned out.  I had never done watercolor nails before, but these were super easy.  I loved that they didn't have to look so neat and pristine which made the watercolor part so easy.
To achieve this look you want to paint your base coat and cover that with a top coat.  This will protect your base coat in the next step.  After that is completely dry, I placed random dots of color on the nail, and then with a striping brush dipped in acetone, spread the polish around.  If you don't apply a top coat over the base color, when you use the acetone dipped brush, it will QUICKLY eat through your base color and you will have to start all over again.

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Base color: White on the Spot from Milani - 2 coats
Watercolor colors: Blue - Scream from Pure Ice
                                Pink- Strawberry from Avon
Purple- Cherry, Cherry Bang, Bang! from Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure
Top coat: Seche Vite

Have you guys ever used this technique?  Did you like it?

31 Day Challenge - Day 14: Stamping

Our challenge mani for today is stamping.  Stamping is something I really love to do, but for some reason, never do enough of it.  I think I just get intimidated because I don't like waiting for the base color to dry, even with a coat of Seche.  I don't really know what else to say about this, so I guess I will just show you!

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Dark blue: Ibiza from Zoya
Light blue: unnamed Color Club - I HATE that Color Club doesn't have names on their bottle
Top coat: Seche Vite
Plate: Mash 48

31 Day Challenge - Day 13: Your Cheer Yourself Up Mani

Nothing cheers me up quite like a french tip manicure.  I know it sounds odd, but there is just something so perfect and so pristine about a french tip.  I used to get my nails done all the time and for years I just wore acrylics with the white tips.  I did this in two parts.  I did the pink first, layered on a coat of Seche Vite, and then went to the movies with my dad.  I totally forgot that we had a father, daughter date yesterday!  Good thing he called to see what time we should go.  After I got home from the movies, I used paper reinforcements to create the tips and applied a layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat.  I couldn't be happier with the way these turned out.

Base coat: Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Base color: Audrey from Zoya - 3 coats
Tip color: Superstar! from Pure Ice - 1 coat
Top coats: Seche Vite and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

I would like to apologize for the cuts on my fingers.  :-( I cut my finger and fingernail while cutting an onion the other day. I have a tea bag patch on my middle finger that you can barely see.  When I wear darker colors you can't even tell, but under Audrey you can kinda tell.

What is your "cheer yourself up" mani?
